چکیده

The catalysis of nuclear reactions by negatively charged relics leads to increased outputs of primordial 6Li and 9Be. In combination with observational constraints on the primordial fractions of 6Li and 9Be, this imposes strong restrictions on the primordial abundance and the lifetime of charged relics. We analyze the constraints from the catalysis of 9Be on supersymmetric models in which the gravitino is the lightest supersymmetric particle and a charged slepton—such as the lighter stau—the next-to-lightest supersymmetric particle (NLSP). Barring the special cases in which the primordial fraction of the slepton NLSP is significantly depleted, we find that the 9Be data require a slepton NLSP lifetime of less than 6× 103 s. We also address the issue of the catalytic destruction of 6Li and 9Be by late forming bound states of protons with negatively charged relics finding that it does not lead to any significant modification of the limit on the slepton lifetime.

Geometrical Effects of Baryon Density Inhomogeneities on Primordial Nucleosynthesis

We discuss effects of fluctuation geometry on primordial nucleosynthesis. For the first time we consider condensed cylinder and cylindrical-shell fluctuation geometries in addition to condensed spheres and spherical shells. We find that a cylindrical shell geometry allows for an appreciably higher baryonic contribution to be the closure density (Ωbh 2 50 < ∼ 0.2) than that allowed in spherical ...

Primordial Nucleosynthesis and the Abundances of Beryllium and Boron

The ability to now make measurements of Be and B as well as put constraints on Li abundances in metal-poor stars has led to a detailed reexamination of Big Bang Nucleosynthesis in the A> ∼ 6 regime. The nuclear reaction network has been significantly expanded with many new rates added. It is demonstrated that although a number of A > 7 reaction rates are poorly determined, even with extreme val...

Chemistry of heavy elements in the Dark Ages

Context. Primordial molecules were formed during the Dark Ages, i.e. the time between recombination and reionization in the early Universe. They were the constitutents of the first proto-stellar clouds. Standard Big Bang nucleosynthesis predicts the abundances of hydrogen, helium, lithium, beryllium, and their isotopes in the early Universe. Heavier nuclei such as carbon, nitrogen, or oxygen ar...

Galactic Chemical Evolution and the Abundances of Lithium, Beryllium and Boron

We have included Galactic Cosmic Ray Nucleosynthesis (GCRN) in a complete Chemical Evolution Model that takes into account 76 stable isotopes from hydrogen to zinc. Any successful LiBeB evolution model should also be compatible with other observational constraints like the age-metallicity relation, the G-dwarf distribution or the evolution of other elements. At the same time, we have checked ho...
